We have arrived at the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat punched their ticket to the championship round on Monday night, completing one of the most improbable runs in a conference finals by winning the first three games, losing the next three and then getting a 19-point win as the road team. After the Boston Celtics tied the series at three game apiece, the conventional wisdom was that the NBA would see the first team in league history comeback to win a seven-game series after losing the first three contests. But the 8-seed Heat won Game 7, convincingly, 103-84, and denied the Celtics the opportunity to be that squad.
Instead the Celtics became the 151st team to fail to take a series once falling into an 0-3 hole. The Heat will now head to Denver to face the Nuggets, who swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals. Game 1 is set for Thursday night.
