MARSHFIELD − Jonny Tomke, Mike Stiemke, Richard Reis and Cale Bauer all grew up in the Marshfield area and have been friends “forever,” playing golf, fantasy football and softball together. For the past couple of years, the quartet have dreamed of opening their own sports bar.
“People kept telling us there wasn’t anything exciting to do in Marshfield on Friday and Saturday nights,” Tomke said.
So they decided to change that. The men partnered to open The Clubhaus, 1213 S. Central Ave. in Marshfield, at the end of February. It’s a sports bar that features four state-of-the art Uneekor indoor golf simulators that offer golfers the opportunity to play virtually on a driving range, full courses, mini games or even a round of mini golf.
“Things have been terrific (since we opened),” Tomke said. “We get a lot of first-time golfers and people who aren’t regular golfers who want to give it a shot.”
The Clubhaus is currently hosting a spring golf league on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which is full, and due to the overwhelming response they are hoping to expand the league. Tomke said those who are interested can watch the business’s Facebook page for updates.
Rates for the golf simulators are by the hour and vary based on group size. Those rates, as well as online reservations, are available on their website at clubhausmarshfield.com.
Tomke said the men started putting the business together over the past year. Finding a building that they could fit everything into in Marshfield was the biggest hurdle.
“Opening a place like this, a place we could all get together and watch sports, is a dream we all had,” Tomke said. “Marshfield didn’t really have a place like that.”
Tomke said The Clubhaus has one of the biggest TVs in town at 86″ and also features five other large-screen TVs around the bar to view sporting events. They plan to add more in the future.
It also features a full bar with beer, liquor, specialty cocktails and wine. They serve pizzas as well.
“The community has been so great, and we really hope to be able to give back,” Tomke said. “We hope to become part of the community.”
The Clubhaus hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 715-207-0478.
