After selling fashion online, out of her basement and garage, BAM Fashion Boutique owner Amy Gray opened her first-ever retail store in Lonsdale on Saturday, March 18.
Gray explains that her home business and family’s move to Lonsdale made them look for a brick-and-mortar location.
“I ran out of my basement in Elko in the beginning, then out of our detached garage,” she explained after the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday at 126 Main Street North. “I would have open shopping hours, but never set hours.”
Gray said moving to Lonsdale to be closer to their camper in Waterville made sense for her, husband Phil, and their children Bryson, Aubree, and MacKenzie, for whom the BAM store is named. Once they moved, a big question loomed.
“Well, now what do I do with all of my clothes?” She said. “I have to find something!”
A post on the Lonsdale Facebook page looking for a place for sale or rent led them to purchase the North Main Street building. She loves the location and the size.
“It’s a nice big space, right on Main Street. This could be awesome,” she said.
Of course, a new retail location meant beefing up BAM’s inventory of brand-new LuLaRoe clothing.
“I typically carry around 2,000 pieces of clothing, and I feel it’s still pretty similar to that,” she said. “But I’m excited for the extra stuff like accessories and other items to complete an outfit.
The store features an array of LuLaRoe clothing for all age types, accessories, purses, bags, stylized water mugs, and hats. There is also a fitting room in the store.
Gray said Lonsdale residents have been very welcoming to them, their family, and her new store, particularly Lonsdale Chamber’s Executive Director, Shanna Gutzke-Kupp.
“Shanna has been so warm and welcoming. She thinks the community will love the store because there’s no other place to shop for clothing,” Gray said. “I’m just excited. I want to learn more about the Chamber, and Community Days. I came to the parade last year and have been to a Chris Hawkey concert here.”
Gray said she doesn’t have set hours yet, but people can stop by the store or they check out her outfit pairings on Facebook at “LulaRoe Amy Gray VIP.”
