Bet365 has officially launched its online sportsbook in Louisiana, marking the seventh state the sports betting operator is now live in.
The company’s Louisiana sports betting launch comes on the heels of its recent agreement with the Charlotte Hornets to serve as the official sports betting partner of the NBA franchise. Each potential North Carolina sports betting operator must first have a partnership with a state team before it can apply for a license.

Bet365 is joining a healthy sports betting market, as the Louisiana Gaming Control Board has reported more than $2.2 billion in handle for the 2023-2024 fiscal year and more than $35.1 million in taxes collected during that time as well.

Bet365 has been a top-five operator out of a total of 17 others in Ohio since the Buckeye State launched sports betting in January 2023. Last week, the sports betting operator and the Charlotte Hornets announced an exclusive partnership that named Bet365 as the “Official Mobile Sports Betting Partner of the Charlotte Hornets.” It signals a potential sports betting license application in the state, as each sports betting company must have a partnership with a state team or arena to operate.
The deal with the Charlotte Hornets is Bet365’s fifth with a U.S. sports team. The sports betting operator currently has deals with the Washington Commanders, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Guardians, and San Antonio Spurs.

Under the bill signed by Gov. Roy Cooper (D) on June 14, 2023, North Carolina will allow 12 online sports betting licenses and allows brick-and-mortar sportsbooks at eight “places of public accommodation” throughout the state.
However, during the state’s budget process, the bill was amended to require potential sports betting operators to have a “written designation agreement,” or partnership, with a professional sports team, sports facility, NASCAR track, or PGA Tour golf course to be considered.
This is the first partnership to be announced between a North Carolina professional sports team and sports betting operator.
