Washington – Business Roundtable CEO Joshua Bolten today released a statement after the House introduced A Stronger Workforce for America Act, legislation amending and reauthorizing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and the Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act:
“Business Roundtable applauds Chairwoman Foxx, Ranking Member Scott and bipartisan Members of the House Education and the Workforce Committee for championing legislation to improve essential education and job training programs. By expanding Pell Grant eligibility to students enrolled in high-quality, short-term programs and modernizing the WIOA system, these bipartisan bills will help equip more workers with the skills they need to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing economy.
“With nearly 10 million open jobs across the country, America needs swift action to fill in-demand careers and ensure the U.S. remains globally competitive well into the future. We look forward to continuing to work with both chambers of Congress to build a workforce development system that expands opportunity for all and helps workers tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow – an ever-ready workforce.”
