A Clarkesville man who was critically injured in a three-vehicle wreck in Hollywood last week has died. Kenneth Ray Brook, 67, passed away on Saturday, May 27, six days after the crash.
Brook died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire says he died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the automobile accident on Sunday, May 21.
Paramedics airlifted Brook to the hospital following the crash.
According to the state patrol, Brook was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 north on GA 15/US Highway 441 at Talmadge Road. Troopers say he was following too closely and failed to yield as he came up on two vehicles stopped at the red light.
The pickup truck rear-ended a Kia Soul and then a Toyota Highlander.
The wreck seriously injured the driver and a passenger in the Kia and also injured a passenger in the Highlander.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigated the wreck.
“Our thoughts & prayers are with the Brook family at this difficult time,” says McEntire.
Brook is survived by two sons. His funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
Brook is the third person to die from a traffic accident in Habersham County this month. On May 2, a grandfather and grandson were killed when their vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck as they sat stopped at a construction zone on Highway 115.
