The college football season is still more than three months away, but that doesn’t mean Vegas isn’t thinking about who might make the 2023 College Football Playoff. And surprise, surprise, the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs have the best odds to get back in the field.
Beyond the Bulldogs, there are some usual suspects. Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State are all on the heels of the Georgia. And beyond that top four, the field starts to open up with some potential new entrants or teams trying to get back on the elite level.

All told, it’s about as expected — plus the inclusion of Tulane. Coming off a Cotton Bowl win over USC and a massive one-year turnaround, the Green Wave is unlikely to be in the CFP. But an undefeated run through the AAC after a strong finish to 2022 could have Tulane on the fringe of a College Football Playoff berth.
Unlike the Green Wave, teams like Texas A&M and Oklahoma are hoping to bounce back after lackluster 2022 seasons, but have to navigate a number of teams in their conference with better odds.
Perhaps the most interesting range of odds is the collection of teams in the +200 to +700 range. That grouping features any number of the offseason darlings like Penn State, LSU and Florida State along with the likes of Tennessee, Washington, Clemson and Notre Dame. Those teams could all make the field without causing many eyebrows to be raised.
And of the 19 teams that DraftKings released College Football Playoff odds for, 11 have already been in the four-team field at least once. According to these odds, USC, Penn State and Texas have the best chances of making a first-time appearance.
There’s also the possibility of a team no one expects getting hot and running the table, throwing a wrench in these College Football Playoff odds. But for now, it’s a safe bet to pick the Bulldogs and potentially some others to be back in the four team College Football Playoff field at the end of the 2023 season.
