The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team is suddenly in trouble.
The Buffs won five straight in December, but they have now lost two of their last four games, including an ugly loss to three-win Cal on New Year’s Eve.
The Buffs just fell to the Trojans on Thursday night, and they turn around and face the No. 7 UCLA Bruins at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday.
The Bruins are a trendy Final Four pick right now and are the best team in the Pac-12. UCLA has 12 wins in a row and has not lost since the end of November.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. is likely headed to the NBA after this season, and Tyger Campbell and Jayden Clark are playing well for Mick Cronin’s team.

The Buffs need to get back on track before they dig a hole too deep. The good news is after this UCLA game, the Buffs face Washington and Washington State — two winnable games.
Against USC, KJ Simpson led the way with 17 points on 7-of-14 from the field, and Lawson Lovering had a coming-out party with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Playing a competitive game against UCLA will be a step in the right direction for Tad Boyle’s team on Saturday night. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. MT on FOX.
