There’s nothing official at this point, but it appears that Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin may be on his way to a return to playing in the NFL.

Hamlin visited with President Joe Biden, and he reportedly told the Chief Executive that he thought he would be able to play again.
Hamlin was critically injured late in the 2022 regular season in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals when he took a hit to the chest that caused his heart to stop. He was resuscitated on the field by members of the Buffalo and Cincinnati medical staffs. The shocking scene played itself out on Monday Night Football, and the game between the two teams was halted and eventually canceled.
After the nation waited breathlessly for word of Hamlin’s condition, reports surfaced days later that the cornerback was conscious and had his motor skills. The athlete made steady progress, first in a Cincinnati hospital and later in a Buffalo medical facility.
He was able to make public appearances, and the Bills used his recovery as a source of inspiration for their Week 17 game against the New England Patriots. The Bills won that game and celebrated the steady progress made by their teammate.
Damar Hamlin’s GoFundMe page raised more than $9 million to support his toy drive for needy children, and it represented the nation’s support for the injured player.
Hamlin has not officially said whether he will return to competition or retire, but his words to President Biden indicate that he is giving serious consideration to a return to the Bills.
