If you love golf and you love Fireball, then this cinnamon whisky brand has a proposition for you.
Fireball will pay 10 fans $1,000 to wear a custom, tournament-inspired Fireball red jacket in Augusta, GA.
“Fireball fans are more likely to attend a golf event than the average consumer, and they lean into the fun, social side of golf with gusto,” says Danny Suich, global brand director for Fireball. “They can be often found celebrating on the green with ‘birdie juice,’ or rather, a shot, usually of Fireball, every time they hit a birdie or on the tee box with a ‘tee shot.’”
That inspired the team at Fireball to come up with their red jacket promotion. “With that inspiration in mind, we’re declaring there’s a new ball in golf, Fireball, that is,” he says.
Legend has it that one of golf’s more iconic jackets (one that’s synonymous with a certain April tournament) originated from captains overseas wearing red jackets. “We can’t confirm or deny this legend, and that’s what makes it a great legend,” Suich says. “But, according to our internet searching ,the story goes that at a historical golf course across the pond, captains who won tournaments wore red jackets and it’s the fascination with those red jackets and what they symbolized that inspired the creation of even more iconic jackets in the sport.”
Since red is Fireball’s color, “we took this as a sign that red jackets needed a place in the game,” he says.
The jackets themselves are fancy enough for any club or course, he says, adding that they feature a green liner, a custom Fireball patch, monogrammed brass buttons inspired by the color of our whisky, an inside pocket for a Fireball mini-shooter, a custom Fireball pin, and a special inside patch that allows owners to claim their coat.
Fans interested in being one of the few people in the world to get a Fireball Red Jacket can visit www.FireballRedJacket.com between now and March 29 to submit an entry to win a red jacket. Each entrant must submit a reply in 250 words or less answering the question ‘What is your Fireball golf tradition?’ Entries, he says, will be judged on three key pieces: best answers the contest question, which consists of 50 percent of their score; creative, humorous and inspiring answers consist of 25 percent of the score, and answers that represent the brand in a positive manner consist of the remaining 25 percent of their score. The answers also will judged on their overall quality.
“We are looking for our fans to be creative and authentic,” Suich says. “We know Fireball turns any occasion from mundane to memorable, and we want to hear from our drinkers in their own words how we help bring the fun to their golfing experience.”
“We know what happens on the golf course, stays on the golf course, so your submissions are safe with us,” he says.
Even though phones aren’t allowed where the Fireball Red Jackets are likely to go, the vibrant color guarantees that wearers will be easy to spot – on TV and the course. “When we see a jacket in the wild we’ll sharing on our social channels,” Suich says, adding that they encourage fans to follow g@FireballWhisky on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and tag the brand in their posts.
Each of the 10 jacket winners will also receive a $1,000 stipend to enhance their golf experience in Augusta, GA or anywhere else they take their jacket.
“Golf is one of the most popular sports among adults in the United States, but it is also historically old school with a ton of tradition and rules,” Suich says. “At Fireball – we know you can have a little fun and bring some [cinnamon] spice to any situation – even in the fairway.”
