PEORIA (25News Now) – Athletes endured a grueling workout this morning to honor the life and sacrifice of Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in Afghanistan.
Across the country, CrossFit gyms spent this weekend doing one of his favorite workouts that really test strength and endurance.
“It’s a big, long brutal workout. It was one of his favorites. It used to be called body armor that’s why people wear vests when they do it. You run a mile, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats and then you run a mile again. It’s one of the most grueling long workouts that we do in the CrossFit community.”
Proceeds from Saturday’s event are going to support more veterans in the area.
