By 2025, Ford aims to resize its European Engineering footprint, which would result in 2,800 job cuts. As per news agency AFP, General Manager at Ford Model E in Europe, Martin Sander has also commented on the Ford Layoffs.
“These are difficult decisions, not taken lightly. We recognise the uncertainty it creates for our team, and I assure them we will be offering them our full support in the months ahead,” stated Sander.
As per the AFP report, the job cuts in Ford Germany are lower than the 3,200 layoffs expected by IG Metall Union earlier this year in January.
The US automaker also stated that majority of the job reductions would be done through voluntary departures to maintain an organisation of around 3,400 roles in Europe.
Ford has further stated that the company would be taking action in order to restructure its business in Europe to create more “learner and more competitive cost structure.” In 2022, Ford has announced thousands of job cuts in its offices in United States and India.
