WARREN — Fortitude Fitness will celebrate its fourth anniversary during a special Open House event on April 7, from 4-7 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature tours of the fitness studio, door prizes, and an opportunity to meet the fitness coaches and learn more about the benefits of exercise, which not only dramatically improves physical health, but has a profound impact on the improvement of one’s mental well-being, according to Fortitude, in a news release.
“Founded in 2019 by an unwittingly entrepreneur, Raechelle Haynes, Fortitude Fitness converted a portion of unused warehouse space within the huge green Brooks Building on Route 90 and slowly assembled a two story, premier work-out facility with a comprehensive selection of state-of-the-art fitness equipment including spin cycles, assault bikes, rowers, skiers, wall ball targets, and enough weights, barbells, dumbbells, and accessories to sink a ship,” said Fortitude.
“Fortitude Fitness is a place where people come to change and it gives me a wonderful sense of fulfillment in helping to guide the process along,” said Raechelle Haynes. “Those that commit are desiring growth as an individual. They want more out of life. They want to feel strong, capable and able to conquer whatever life throws at them and our ‘SPRING INTO SHAPE’ campaign is a desire to encourage more in our community to embrace all the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.”
Fortitude also works with local teen athletes to improve their strength and conditioning and overall athleticism on the court or in the field, and more importantly, offers workouts for teens that are specifically designed to help cope with mental health struggles.
“Our teen workouts help young athletes reduce their risk of injury and improve their overall performance/fitness by working on certain elements that get left out when practicing only their skills for a specific sport,” said Haynes. “Things like balance, core strength and coordination are so important.
Haynes is currently working with Physiology University in Freeport on a 30-day Student Strong certification which is a program designed to educate teens on their physiology.
“When that knowledge is unlocked, they gain control over their physical and mental health, which is very empowering,” said Haynes.
Fortitude Fitness is located at 2437 Camden Road in Warren.
