FORT MYERS, Fla. — Basketball fans, it’s time to stand up and cheer as the game’s future stars bring their talents to Fort Myers in the 2023 GEICO Nationals.
The 2023 GEICO High School Boys Basketball Nationals has already kicked it into high gear, with No. 4 Link Academy (Mo.) defeating No. 5 St. Paul VI (Va.) 68-65.
Thursday is filled with three other highly-anticipated quarterfinals matchups on ESPNU:
IMG Academy survives a fourth-quarter comeback by Prolific Prep to complete the upset and secure a spot in the semifinals of GEICO Nationals. Prolific Prep erased a 21-point deficit in the final eight minutes, tying the game with one possession left. But senior guard Blue Cain was the hero for IMG, hitting the game-winning shot as time expired.
The star power sure is bright in this year’s competition, as 40 of ESPN’s top-ranked high school recruits will take the court.
Players such as Montverde Academy’s Kwame Evans (Senior, No. 13, Oregon), Prolific Prep’s Aden Holloway (Senior, No. 17, Auburn), and Sunrise Christian’s Matas Buzelis (Senior, No. 9, G League Ignite) will look to ball out and capture the championship.
The nationals are taking place from March 30 through April 1 at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers. Semifinal action will start on Friday, March 31, at 2:30 PM then at 4:30 PM with No. 4 Link Academy vs. TBA.
The GEICO Boys Nationals will conclude on Saturday with the championship game scheduled to tip off at noon. If you want to watch the action from home, you can tune into ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.
