HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Hastings College is in the middle of its spring football schedule and after losing 26 seniors from last year’s roster, there are a plethora of positions with vacant starting spots.
“The guys that are here right now aren’t the only guys that are going to be here in August,” Hastings College football coach Matt Franzen said. “There’s going to be another group of guys coming in that are going to be hungry to come in and win some of these jobs also. And so anything that these guys can do now in spring ball is going to put them ahead of the next class.”
The Broncos are creating a culture of competition to fill those vacancies.
“There’ll be a lot of positions that have to be filled,” Broncos senior running back Brett Simonsen said. “Younger guys step up. The next man up mentality, there’s a lot of open spots, a lot of new positions to be filled.”
