Fordsville native Dakota Hayden is returning to Hollywood after earning a golden ticket for the second year in a row on “American Idol.” The singer said that his audition was not shown on TV, but you might be able to catch him Sunday or Monday when Hollywood Week airs on ABC Network.
“I’m so happy to finally announce that I got a golden ticket on American Idol! #HollywoodWeek starts next week, Sunday and Monday on ABC Network! Stay tuned as the competition heats up,” Hayden recently said on Facebook.
Hayden competed in season 20 of American Idol last year and immediately received great reviews from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — with Perry saying he was “top-10 material.”
Last year, Hayden described his time as crazy and a lot different than his usual pace back in Fordsville.
“The atmosphere in Hollywood is a lot different than Fordsville where I’m from, and the amount of people here is just great and everybody here is pretty talented,” Hayden said at the time.
Last season, Hayden made it past Hollywood Week into the Showstopper Round as a member of the top 59 contestants. He was eventually eliminated just shy of the top 24 after performing the song Pretty Heart by Parker McCollum.
Hollywood Week is set to follow the same style this season with episodes on Sunday and Monday. The Showstoppers episodes will follow suit on April 9 and 10. All episodes air at 8 p.m.
