There are three horse racing fixtures taking place on Wednesday and it’s all over the jumps as Warwick, Haydock Park and Ffos Las host a trio of National Hunt meetings. We have delved through our racing naps table and picked out some of the most popular and most eye-catching naps from a host of racing writers…
A faller last time out at Sandown Park, Grey Diamond is looking to bounce back to form on Wednesday in the 17:20 at Haydock Park and the Sam Thomas-trained 13/8 chance has proven extremely popular with our racing tipsters with four of them napping the nine-year-old. A solid performer in handicap chases in recent times, he has been napped by the likes of The Score from Racing TV, who is aiming to land a third winning nap in a row, and Newsboy from the Daily Mirror, who is hoping the Thomas charge can defy top weight today.
Fresh from Cheltenham Festival success with Corach Rambler, Lucinda Russell will be gearing up for a tilt at the Grand National next month with that classy performer, but the Scottish-based trainer will head to Haydock this afternoon to try and claim more success and she saddles Your Own Story in the 16:10 race. Napped by a whopping five tipsters – including the likes of Steve Mullington and Jim Delahunt from the Scottish Sun – Your Own Story is attempting to build on a victory at Wetherby last time out, but has been handed a 7lbs rise, so has work to do to land back-to-back wins. Sam England’s No Cruise Yet looks a lively adversary to Your Own Story and that 3/1 chance is another proving popular in that 16:10 contest with three tipsters napping the England runner.
Over at Ffos Las, the Tom Lacey-trained Bannow Bay Boy has caught the eye of three tipsters, who have napped the 6/4 market leader for the 13:30 race. Templegate from The Sun is one of the three tipsters napping the Lacey raider, who is yet to get his head in front yet and will have the burden of top weight, but has shaped with promise, so has to be respected.
The abovementioned Bannow Bay Boy is the nap of the day for two of the top three in the naps table with Postdata from the Racing Post and RP Ratings from the same publication opting for the 6/4 jolly, but sandwiched in between that pair in the standings is The Punt, who heads to Haydock for the best bet on Wednesday. The Punt has put up the Dan Skelton-trained Alnadam as the best bet of the day in the 15:35 race and that 3/1 shot will be looking to improve on a third placed finish at Wetherby.
Over at Warwick, Andrew Bladen from the Wolverhampton Express & Star, who sits in fifth place in the naps table, has napped the eye-catching 11/1 chance Regally Blonde in the 13:40 contest. Ben Case’s charge was rated in the low 70s on the Flat, so showed some talent, but he’s failed to fire on two hurdle starts so far and will be looking to make a better impression this afternoon and at double-figured odds is interesting.
Other eye-catching naps on Wednesday include The Imposter, who is an 11/4 chance for the 17:00 at Ffos Las and has been napped by both Lee Sobot and The Brigadier, while the Sportlnglife tipster has veered to Warwick for the bet of the day – as that tipster looks for a third winner in a row – and the nap of the day for that tipster is Interne De Sivola in the 15:25 event.
