One of the most visited and emblematic places in the United States is in California.
The Walk of Fame is not only recognised and seen by tourists who walk its streets in search of the name of their favourite artist, it is also a symbol of success for celebrities, who seek to be awarded one of these stars.
Hollywood has already recognised stars like Marilyn Monroe, Steven Spielberg and Kobe Bryant, among others, but what many do not know is that the Walk of Fame receives more than 200 applications each year where celebrities from around the world apply for their name to appear on the legendary American street.
However, of these 100 or so applications, Hollywood only accepts an average of 30.
After making a list of celebrities who meet all the requirements for a star on the Walk of Fame, such as having been in the entertainment business for more than five years and having won one of the most important awards in their industry, those who receive the most votes from the public move on to the next stage.
Here, a committee of five experts finally chooses the celebrities who will be stamping their names on Hollywood soil. In addition, the nominees must write a letter accepting the tribute and award.
But it doesn’t end there, because when an artist of Michael Jackson‘s stature receives this award, they must pay for the star’s upkeep until their death, a figure that only the most fortunate can afford.
As the Walk of Fame website reveals, celebrities who receive a star must pay 50,000 dollars, which goes towards the creation of the piece that will be embedded in the star and its maintenance in the future.
