This season on the WTA Tour in many ways has been the breakout for top-ranked Iga Świątek and a career year for Ons Jabeur, making it fitting that they finish the season facing off for the U.S. Open championship. Świątek in majors this season has now made her second finals (won the French Open), a semifinal and the third round as she looks to win her second major this year and cement herself as the best player in the world. For Jabeur, this is her second straight major final as she attempts to win for the first time in her career.

Jabeur has been on a mission here at the 2022 U.S. Open, culminating in a dominant semifinal win over Caroline Garcia (6-1, 6-3):
These two have met one time on the court this year back in May at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia where Świątek won 6-2, 6-2 during her dominant, record-breaking stretch.
In this tournament, Świątek has wins over Jasmine Paolini, Sloane Stephens, Lauren Davis, Jule Niemeier, Jessica Pegula and Aryna Sabalenka going 12-2 in sets, 78-45 in games and 1-0 in tiebreaks overall.
For Jabeur, she has gone 12-2 in sets, 80-51 in matches and 2-0 in tiebreaks with wins over Madison Brengle, Elizabeth Mandlik, Shelby Rogers, Veronika Kudermetova, Ajla Tomljanovic and Garcia to get to the finals.
Świątek and Jabeur are potentially the best two tennis players on the WTA Tour and finishing up the major tournament season here in 2022 with them in a final against each other only makes sense.
