March 23, 2023 // Franchising.com // BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-based fitness franchise Iron Tribe Fitness, in cooperation with Birmingham nonprofit ministry Neverthirst, has set a date for its Workout for Water, a high-energy fitness event bringing the community together to provide clean water for those who lack access in North Africa and Asia.
The 13th annual event will take place on May 20 at the Back Forty Beer Company at 3201 1st Ave N in Birmingham, Alabama. The workout will start at 9 a.m. and last until 11:00 a.m.
“More than 771 million people do not have access to safe water. What’s more, about 4 billion people, representing nearly two-thirds of the world population, experience severe water scarcity during at least one month of the year,” said Iron Tribe Fitness founder and CEO Forrest Walden. “Every year, the Tribe bands together as a team, shows up rain or shine, sweats, cheers, and pushes each other on, until we change lives. This year will be no different.”
To date, Workout for Water has raised more than $5 million dollars and changed the lives of nearly 130,000 people with access to clean water. This year’s goal is to raise $250,000.
Those who sign up will pay $50 to compete and get a T-shirt. They’ll be divided into groups of four and team members will alternate holding a large barrel of water while the other three run, do push-ups, and other activities.
To celebrate the workout, Iron Tribe Fitness will host an after-party at Back Forty Beer Company.
“It’s a fun competition that always gets a good response from the local community. It means the world to us when people sacrifice their time to donate and be a part of it,” said Walden.
Workout for Water events will take place in all other cities across the southeastern United States where Iron Tribe Fitness has gyms.
