Box Score WEXFORD, Pa. – IUP women’s tennis controlled singles play after dropping the doubles point, emerging with a 4-3 victory against Slippery Rock on Saturday night at the PA Tennis Center.
IUP (2-8, 1-0) needed three sets in all four singles wins. Slippery Rock secured the doubles point despite Natalie Kmoskova and Joanna Stralka winning their matchup at the number two slot.
Heading into singles, Karolin Kirchtag battled back for an extended three-set victory against Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez by scores of 2-6, 6-4 and 6-3. Kmoskova pushed IUP ahead with her 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Katy Graydon completed the comeback at No. 4 singles, taking the final two sets after falling 6-1 in the opening frame. Graydon answered back with a 6-4 win in the second set, closing out the match with a 6-2 win to lift IUP ahead 3-1.
Stralka clinched the conference match for the Crimson Hawks with a 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
