((UPDATED))
It’s June and that means time for official visits.
The University of Louisville football staff kicked off three straight big weekends of official visits by hosting six prospects on campus. The prospects arrived in town on Friday afternoon and into the evening and the visits will last until Sunday.
The visits will include a four-star prospect and two players already committed to Louisville in the Class of 2024. U of L is expected to host around six or seven prospects next weekend and then will host close to 20 prospects on the June 16-18 weekend.
The month of June is a quiet period, according to the NCAA rules. The quiet period means the only contact that recruits can have with college coaches can be on-campus visits, which can be official visits for prospects in the ’24 class. U of L will also host some ’25 prospects and future classes on unofficial visits during the rest of the month.
“Recruiting is definitely year-round now,” U of L coach Jeff Brohm said in April. “This transfer portal is really active all year long, so you always have to be monitoring what you are hearing and what is being said and you just have to be ready.
“That’s a major part of recruiting now. But high school recruiting is still important. We have to do a good job in that part of recruiting, trying to find and bring in the best high school guys that fit what we want to do here. That’s still very important.”
This weekend, U of L is expected to host Noblesville, Ind., offensive lineman Ransom McDermott and Jacksonville, Fla., The Bolles School linebacker Trent Carter. Both players are among the eight commitments in the ’24 class for the Cardinals.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas four-star wide receiver James Madison is also expected to make a visit, along with Tampa, Fla., Catholic defensive lineman Xavier Porter, Spanish Fort, Ala., edge rusher Cole McConathy, and Centreville, Ala., edge rusher Trashun Griffin. Tyler, Tx., four-star athlete/running back Derrick McFall was expected but had travel issues and said he will now be in Louisville next weekend.
