AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis earned a 4-0 victory over Atlantic 10 rival, St. Bonaventure University on Saturday morning at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. The victory marked the 14th straight at home for UMass.
Massachusetts improves to 8-3 on the year, including 2-0 in the A-10 Conference, while St. Bonaventure drops to 7-10 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Minutewomen notched the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles. The duo of Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy defeated Amelia Haley and Alexandra Jansson of St. Bonaventure 6-1, at court No. 2. Melisa Senli and Mariya Krasakova teamed up to beat the Bonnies’ Anastasia Gubanova and Isabella Venter 6-3, at No. 1 doubles. Dylan Cannon and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul were up 5-3 before their match came to a close on court No. 3.
Massachusetts completed its clean sweep with wins at No. 2, No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Hack won 6-0, 6-1 over St. Bonaventure’s Haley on court No. 2, before Senli earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 over Jansson of the Bonnies. Krasakova nabbed the final singles point of the afternoon for the Minutewomen with a 6-2, 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure’s Isabella Venter on court No. 3.
Napadiy, Jonglertrakul and Cannon were all up in their respective matches, before the match came to a halt. Napadiy went 6-4, 4-3 at No. 4 singles, while Jonglertrakul was ahead 1-0 at court No. 5. Cannon took a 2-0 lead at No. 6 singles.
UMass returns to the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center for the second A-10 Conference match of the weekend, hosting Davidson on Sunday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m.
