D McCollum managed to get up and down from a bunker on the final hole and scored a one-stroke victory over Jacob Traylor in the 50th Chick Miler Invitational golf tournament on May 28 at Summerville Country Club. The event was shortened to 36 holes because of weather.
McCollum shot 67-72–139, while Traylor shot 69-71–140.
Chris Asbell finished third at 142, while Mike Cobb and David Connor tied for fourth at 143.
Steve LaPrad won the inaugural Bufort Blanton Senior Division with a score of 80-75–155, edging Rich Bull by one shot. Gary Hartman was third at 164.

Sullivan wins SCJGA Match Play
Rowan Sullivan of Charleston, the No. 6 seed, scored a 4 and 2 victory over No. 29 Gabe Schmitz of Okatie to win the inaugural boys title in the S.C. Junior Golf Association Match Play Championship contested May 25 at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland.
Schmitz had advanced with a 4 and 3 semifinal victory over Lucas Acevedo of Charleston.
“I started off really well today,” Sullivan told the SCJGA. “I got up early and kind of just cruised and made pars. I think that’s the key to match play out here, you can par your guy to death and make them make birdie which is how I think I was able to win. I think this tournament has the makings of something really special, and I’m really thankful and excited to be the inaugural boys champion.”
Caroline Hawkins of Columbia birdied the 19th hole to defeat Bridget Wilkie of Bluffton and win the girls division on May 24.
Eberard-Edens win SCGA Super Senior Four-Ball
Defending champions Tom Eberhard of Johns Island and Bob Edens of Columbia shot 63-69–132 to win the South Carolina Golf Association Super Senior Four-Ball title played May 18 at The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island.
Mike Weiner of Kiawah Island and George Ackerman of Charleston won the Legends Division for players 70 and older, shooting 11-under-par 133.
CALGA at Legend Oaks
Cathy Yurkon of Stono Ferry won field low gross honors with a score of 77 while Lori Irizarry of Charleston Municipal took field low net honors with a 67 in the Charleston Area Ladies Golf Association (CALGA) match played May 16 at Legend Oaks Golf Club.
