There’s another sign that Michigan football should be able to close with Jacob Smith, plus a top target will visit Michigan State in June.
The first official visit weekend of June has arrived for Michigan football and other programs and one of the top targets on campus this weekend is four-star EDGE Jacob Smith.
Smith is the brother of Michigan football commitment Jerod Smith. Both players will be on campus this weekend and will actually come back later this month too.
But the focus is on Jacob Smith right now. Nebraska, Notre Dame, and others are in the mix, but Michigan football has continued to build momentum in recent weeks, and on Friday, Brian Dohn of 247 Sports put in a crystal ball projection for Smith to land with the Wolverines.
Smith is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, and ranked 210th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He does have official visits scheduled for Nebraska and Kentucky later this month, but this recruitment feels like Michigan football’s to lose at this point.
Something might even happen before Smith is able to take those other official visits.
4-star LB Target Jeremiah Beasley to visit Michigan State
Jeremiah Beasley is one of the top recruits in the state of Michigan for the 2024 class. The Wolverines have put on the full-court press for Beasley and have been trending as the favorite with a decision expected on June 29th.
Beasley is going to visit Michigan football this month. Yet, it looks like the Michigan State Spartans, who were once viewed as the favorite in this recruitment, will also get an official visit. Missouri is another school that will get a visit in June.
All in all, I wouldn’t be too worried. Michigan State has zero recruiting momentum right now and so even getting Beasley on campus feels like a win.
That visit will be June 9-10. He’s expected to visit Michigan football after that, which should give the Wolverines a chance to close and hopefully wrap up a commitment on June 29th.
All signs are pointing in that direction. Michigan football just needs to finish.
