The Chicago Bears have been making moves throughout the offseason designed to give the team a fighting chance to show significant improvement after finishing 4-13 and in last place in the NFC North last season.
They certainly have attempted to address a number of needs on defense by signing linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards during the offseason. But it’s clear the Bears have multiple areas to improve. One of those prime areas is their pass rush.

Head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that the Bears are interested in “a lot of free agents,” but he did not get specific on the names that the team is considering. However, the pass rush is an area that clearly needs improvement after a so-so showing last season.
Some of the pass rushers who have not been signed to this point in the offseason include Jadeveon Clowney, Yannick Ngakoue, ex-Bear Leonard Floyd, Melvin Ingram, Justin Houston and Frank Clark.
Defensive line coach Travis Smith said that he is most interested in the players that are currently on the Chicago roster.
“I’m focused on the guys we have here,” he said. “That’s not my job to go look outside. That’s for Mr. [Ryan] Poles and [Eberflus] to decide. If they come ask me a question, I’ll offer my opinion on it. But the guys that we have, the 15 guys in the room that we have, coaching every day to get better.”
The Bears clearly need help in the area of pressuring opposing quarterbacks. Safety Jaquan Brisker led Chicago with a meager total of 4.0 sacks.
