Qualifying at No. 4 spot, the Gladiators were aware that a single slip-up will lead them to getting knocked out and hence needed to win the eliminator first and then the second qualifier to make it through to the final and boy did they respond… After edging out Team Abu Dhabi by just five runs, Gladiators saved their best for the debutants Morrisville Samp Army in the second qualifier.

Moeen Ali helped the Samp Army post a strong total of 119 runs before Gladiators sent Andre Russell up, who with an unbeaten fifty guided his side to a win and the defending champions are well on their way towards a title defence. Gladiators will be up against the New York Strikers, who have been the best bowling side in the tournament. Strikers beat Gladiators comprehensively when the two sides met in the league stage and as they lock horns again, he difference could be how the Strikers’ batters perform and how Gladiators’ bowlers respond.
