PEORIA (25News Now) – Part of a business was demolished Saturday after an overnight fire in Peoria.
According to a release from the Peoria Fire Department, firefighters responded to business’s garage on fire in the 1500 block of W. Lincoln Avenue around 4:17 a.m. The first crew to arrive saw heavy smoke coming from the rear and roof of the garage before part of the roof collapsed.
The fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes, but Peoria Code Enforcement determined that an emergency demolition of the part of the building damaged by fire would be necessary.
The fire caused around $70,000 in damages, and no injuries were reported.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
