KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A workplace fight led to a fatal stabbing Tuesday in Knightdale.
According to Knightdale police, officers responded to a fight in progress call Tuesday morning around 6:15 a.m on Spectrum Drive.
When police arrived, they discovered 49-year-old Delevious Gilbert unconscious with multiple stab wounds. Officers and EMS attempted to save Gilbert at the scene.
Gilbert was later taken to WakeMed’s trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities believe the stabbing stems from an earlier altercation between Gilbert and a 43-year-old coworker Monday.
The 43-year-old was taken into police custody following the stabbing Tuesday.
Police did not release information about the previous dispute, but did confirm it likely sparked a second confrontation between the two men Tuesday.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and they are working with the Wake County District Attorney to evaluate the evidence and determine next steps.
