HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLORIDA – Make it eight state championships, including six in a row, for the juggernaut Ponte Vedra High boys’ golf team.
Led by the steady play of medalist Brock Blais, who won the individual title in a playoff with Middleburg’s Chase Carroll, the senior-laden Sharks won the two-day tournament on Wednesday with a four-player score of 600 at the Mission Inn and Resort’s El Campeon Course. American Heritage-Broward finished second (605).
Ponte Vedra’s Brock Blais shot a 1-under par 143 to win medalist honors and lead the Sharks to the Class 2A boys title — their eighth state championship — on Wednesday at Mission Inn and Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills.

Ponte Vedra has won every state title now since 2017, asserting itself as the dominant power in the FHSAA’s Class 2A division. Five of those championships have come in Class 2A as the Sharks won the Class 3A title last year.
Blais becomes the third Ponte Vedra boys player to take home medalist honors. He and Carroll tied at 143 following the second round before Blais won in the playoff.
Also scoring for the Sharks were Carson Brewer (149), who placed ninth; Camden Smith (152), tied for 13th; and Stefan Ink (156), tied for 18th.
In the girls’ tournament, American Heritage-Broward won the title (615) by seven strokes over Ponte Vedra.
Palm Coast’s Matanzas’s Alexandra Gazzoli continued North Florida’s supremacy in the individual standings with a 140 to win medalist honors. She edged American Heritage-Broward’s Katherine Schaefer by one stroke. Two other girls tied for third (144).
Also scoring for American Heritage were Alessandra Tabora, who tied for ninth (151); Laura Monsalve, tied for 14th (154); and Nicole Wu, tied for 39th (169).
