The Sacred Heart University football team added 10 players Wednesday to its 2023 recruiting class, which includes an additional 25 players from the early signing period in December.
Ty Boland, Tom’s River, N.J. (Toms River North). The 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker was an All-Ocean County pick who as captain helped lead team to New Jersey state title.
Amier Burdine, Reading, Pa. (Reading). The 6-1, 180-pound safety was a first team All-State selection and member of Lancaster-Lebanon All-Start team.
Mike Deitelbaum, Naugatuck (Naugatuck). The 5-10, 200-pound linebacker was New Haven Register and CHSCA All-State selection. Also named NVL Player of the Year.
Luke Hackett, Fredrick, Md. (DeMatha). The 5-10 205-pound linebacker was all-conference pick and honorable mention All-Metro selection. Member of National Honor Society.
Brian Hollins, Desoto, Texas (Desoto). The 5-11, 175-pound cornerback was ranked as one of top cornerbacks in Texas by Dallas Morning News and led Desoto to a state championship.
Ryan Palmieri, Gibsonia, Pa. (Pine-Richland). The 5-10, 185-pound safefy was voted Class 5A Player of the Year by the PA Football Writers. He was a first-team All-State selection, picked as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year and helped Pine-Richland to a pair of 5A state titles as well as two WPIAL Championships. He rushed for 1,929 yards and 24 touchdowns and also passed for 1,104 yards and 10 more scores.
Drey Wilk, Berwick, Pa. (Berwick Area). The 5-11, 190-pound safety is a two-time All-State selection, who had 91 tackles (45 solo), two sacks and two interceptions his senior year. Brother Teagan plays football at East Carolina.
Nicholas Yanchuk, North Attleboro, Mass. (Bishop Feehan). The 5-11, 212-pound running back was selected to the MHSFCA DII-All State Team.
Also named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald Football All-Scholastic Teams.
Pacen Ziegler, Wyomissing, Pa. (Wyomissing). The 6-4, 275 pound offensive lineman was a First-Team Class 3A All-State selection. High school win the Section 4-A title.
