The first match of the double-header in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was interrupted due to a light failure at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali on Saturday (April 1).
The match was delayed after Punjab Kings had posted 191 on the board after being sent in to bat by Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana.

As soon as the KKR batters and Punjab team came out on the field to begin the run chase, lights did not turn on and it led to a delay of over 20 minutes.
Fans were quick to slam the Punjab Cricket Association for their poor arrangement that gave the chance to the trolls to mock India and the IPL.

Some called it shameful while others said they are copying the Pakistan Super League, who were heavily trolled for a lot of interruptions due to light and other problems.

Notably, when the possible venues for the upcoming ODI World Cup, set to be played in India, were announced and Mohali’s name was missing from the list, PCA had expressed their disappointment and urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to give them some World Cup games.
However, seeing the arrangements for an IPL game, now it looks like a good decision by the BCCI to not give PCA any World Cup games.
The World Cup final is likely to be held in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad aside, the shortlist for venues comprises Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai
