If there was any question about which team and what player, specifically, Taylor Swift was rooting for at the Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas Sunday evening, Shaquille O’Neal made sure to clear up the confusion in the most fashionable way possible. The former NBA player revealed on Instagram that he gifted Swift the crystal-encrusted, football-shaped Judith Leiber purse she wore to Sunday’s game, which was further customized with Travis Kelce’s jersey number, 87.
“finally met @taylorswift me and @jamiejsalter gifted her a Nfl judith lieber bag,” O’Neal captioned a photo of himself, the singer, and Authentic Brands Group CEO Jamie Salter. Judith Leiber falls under the Authentic Brands umbrella.
The purse, which was released on the Judith Leiber website ahead of the Super Bowl in colorways for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, retails for $4,495.
Swift, who arrived at the game in an all-black ensemble peppered with Chiefs red in tribute to her boyfriend’s team, carried the bag on a delicate chain over her shoulder. She wore a red Chiefs-branded bomber jacket from an Erin Andrews-designed collection, ruby rings from Shahla Karimi and Retrouvai, and a diamond-encrusted “87” pendant from Stephanie Gottlieb. It’s safe to say she was literally decked out from head to toe in Kelce tributes: A red-and-gold bedazzled “87” could also be spotted peeking out from under Swift’s pants cuffs on her black boots.
Swift and Shaq hadn’t met before Sunday, and the former NBA player told Page Six ahead of the game that he hoped to make the connection. “If I see Taylor Swift and get to shake her hand, take a picture, I’ll be good,” he said of his goals for the game.
Swift and her new bag, of course, had plenty to celebrate after the Chiefs’s dramatic win in overtime, their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. Swift, Kelce, and a bevy of friends and family hit the club to celebrate after the game (complete with Swift and Kelce serenading one another with Swift’s own songs), and the high-profile couple shared several kisses on the gridiron in the game’s aftermath.
This isn’t the only themed Judith Leiber purse Swift has snagged this football season, either. Back in December 2023, Gracie Hunt, a member of the family that owns the Chiefs, was spotted giving Swift a birthday present at Arrowhead Stadium. Inside the box, it was revealed, was a bedazzled microphone-shaped purse by the designer.
Hunt told Page Six at a party ahead of the Super Bowl that her mother, Tavia Shackles, had seen the microphone purse and urged Kelce to buy it for Swift. When he passed, Shackles went for it.
“My mom was, like, ‘Well if you’re not [going to get it], this is our birthday present for Miss Taylor because she needs this,” Hunt said. “All women love sparkly things.”
