Christopher Eubanks clinched a debut spot in the top 100 of the ATP rankings when he won his third-round match at the Miami Open on Monday night.
Apparently he wasn’t satisfied.
Wanting even more, Eubanks continued his incredible run as a qualifier with a 7-6(2), 7-6(5) victory over Adrian Mannarino that sent him through the the quarter-finals. The 26-year-old American needed two hours and 19 minutes to set up a meeting with either Daniil Medvedev or Quentin Halys.
Ahead Tuesday’s success Eubanks beat Denis Kudla (7-6 (2), 6-2), Croat Borna Coric, the No 17 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Frenchman Gregoire Barrere (6-3, 7-6 (7)).
It was still a productive tournament for Mannarino, who ousted Chinese wildcard Juncheng Shang (1-6, 6-4, 6-2), American Ben Shelton, the No 32 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) and 2021 Miami champion Hubert Hurkacz, the No 8 seed (7-6(5), 7-6(0)).
