Tennis Takes Down George Washington, 4-1 – University of Massachusetts Athletics
WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Massachusetts tennis took down Atlantic 10 Conference rival George Washington University on Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. UMass is now 7-3 overall and 1-0 in league competition.
The Minutewomen picked up the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy teamed up to defeat Sarah Bodewes and Lindsay Thompson of George Washington, 6-4, at court No. 2. Duo Dylan Cannon and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul downed GW’s Charlotte Bell and Alejandra Ramirez, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles. George Washington’s Stella Wiesemann and Gabriela Giraldo earned the win at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, over Melisa Senli and Mariya Krasakova.
Massachusetts kept the momentum going, grabbing wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Senli won 6-4, 6-3, over GW’s Giraldo at court No. 2, before Krasakova earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 3 over Ramirez of George Washington. Napadiy notched the last singles point for the Minutewomen with a 6-0, 6-3 win over George Washington’s Bodewes at No. 4 singles.
Thompson of George Washington picked up the lone point for the Colonials at No. 5 singles, defeating Jonglertrakul, 6-3, 6-3. Hack and Cannon’s matches at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively, did not start.
UMass returns to the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center for two A-10 Conference matches, hosting St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 25, before welcoming Davidson on Sunday, March 26. Both matches begin at 10:30 a.m.
