Italian Jasmine Paolini, the second seed, advanced to the last four of the Makaraska Open after Croat Ana Konjuh withdrew before the match at Tennis Center Makarska on Friday evening.
Paolini, ranked No 53, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 6 seed, and Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova next.
The Italian won against Croat Antonia Ruzic (6-4, 6-3) and edged out Ukrainian qualifier Katarina Zavatska (6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (10)) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Makarska tournament, Konjuh, ranked No 173, defeated Czech Sara Bejlek (6-4, 6-2) and Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 7 seed (W/O).
