Heading into his fifth season with the UNC basketball program, Armando Bacot is expected to once again be one of the nation’s best big men.

Even though we’re still a few months away from the start of the 2023-2024 college basketball season, 247Sports is already looking ahead at the ACC players who are expected to make the biggest impacts for their schools.

Of course, Armando Bacot is one of the headliners in their way-too-early All-ACC projections.

The rising fifth-year senior was named First-Team All-ACC, as he’s the lone UNC basketball player on the squad. Fellow teammate RJ Davis was named to the “just missed the cut” list.

Bacot is accompanied by Kyle Filipowski of Duke, Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier of Miami, and PJ Hall of Clemson on the team. Here’s what 247Sports had to say regarding the star big man:

North Carolina’s double-double machine is back for a fifth season of college basketball. UNC underwhelmed mightily last season, but it certainly was not on Bacot. He’s one of the best rebounders in the sport, and his back-to-the-basket game has improved every single year. North Carolina made a huge emphasis in the transfer portal to find shooting, and Bacot should be a huge benefactor. The All-American center has turned into an absolute load on both ends.

After averaging a double-double in each of the last two seasons, Bart Torvik projects that Bacot will fall just short of accomplishing the feat for a third time. Torvik expects Bacot’s scoring input to increase while his rebounding numbers take a hit for a second consecutive season.

2023-24 projection: 17 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists

Bacot has already put together an outstanding career in Chapel Hill, as he’ll look to use his fifth year to accomplish the things that he (and the UNC basketball program) still have on their “To Do” list.
