PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard women’s golf opened up its 2023-24 season this past weekend with a third-place finish at the Princeton Invitational. The Crimson combined for rounds of 301/288/288 (+25) to secure a spot on the podium at the tournament for the second straight season. Defending Ivy League Champion, Isabella Gomez led the charge for the Crimson, shooting +2 over 54 holes to finish in fourth place. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Harvard’s first tournament of the season took place this weekend (Sept. 16-17) at the Princeton Invitational, where the Crimson placed second a year ago. 
• The Crimson opened up the tournament with a combined round of +17 (301), good for fifth after 18 holes. 
• First-year Bonnie Zhai fired a two-over par 73 in her first collegiate round to lead her team. 
• Isabella Gomez wrote down a four-over-par 75, the second lowest Harvard score in the opening round. 
• The Crimson came back strong in the second round of the weekend, carding a 288 (+4), tied for the lowest score in the second 18. 
• Bridget Ma shot an impressive one-under-par 70 to lead the scoring while Gomez followed with a even-par 71. 
• Harvard matched its total in the third round, carding another 288 to boost the team to its third-place finish. 
• Gomez shot a tournament low 69 for the Crimson in the final round, 
• The Crimson’s final score of 25-over-par was good for third in the tournament, giving the Crimson its second straight podium at the Princeton Invitational. 
• Gomez started the 2023-24 off strong, posting an individual score fo two-over-par with a combined 215. 
• Bridget Ma also secures a top 20 finish, placing 12th after a total score of six-over-par.
