SCENIC is still searching for her first win but she has shown useful form in the face of some stiff tasks and this looks like a good opportunity to get off the mark. One of Scenic’s best efforts last season was when placed in a fillies’ listed race at York and a reproduction of that sort of form would make her difficult to beat in this novice. She starts out with the Ed Walker stable among the winners.
CALL ME THE BREEZE failed to make an impact in four starts for Ed Walker last season, but she proved more competitive on her reappearance and first outing for Tom Ward at Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago. Call Me The Breeze, who was fitted with a tongue tie for the first time, travelled better than most but was unable to sustain her effort close home, ultimately finishing fifth and leaving the impression she may have needed the run. She doesn’t have many miles on the clock and could step up on that encouraging return.
BELLA TASLINA was no match for an impressive winner on debut at Newbury a few weeks ago but she shaped with promise and kept on well in second. Bella Taslina is likely to be sharper with that experience under her belt and can take a step forward here to get off the mark.
RICH was largely disappointing last season but she was set some tough tasks and has quickly come down in the weights. She ran only respectably to finish fourth at Newmarket when last seen in July, weakening late on after racing too freely, but she reappears off a 3lb lower mark and has the ability to defy this rating.
DANCINGWITHMYSELF was very green on her debut at Chelmsford last October but offered something to work on and she built on that encouragement to win at the same venue nine days later. There were a couple of subsequent winners in that field and Dancingwithmyself, who remains open to plenty of improvement after only two starts, could prove better than this opening handicap mark of 71.
DARK DREAMER, who was gelded prior to his reappearance, stepped up on last season’s efforts when making a successful handicap debut over this course and distance last month, justifying good support in the process. He ran at least as well when runner-up at Windsor last week, coming back for more late on after losing his place, and he ought to give a good account off the same mark.
FICITONAL failed to reward support on his handicap debut at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago but he still improved on last season’s efforts and shaped like he could do better granted a stronger pace. Fictional drops in trip here from an extended 13 furlongs to a mile and a half and this 14-runner affair is likely to be run at a better gallop. He could still have more to offer and represents a yard among the winners.
