Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
RUNNING LION won her first two races of last season (including a 1m2f Listed race here on soft) before withdrawn from the Oaks (upset in the stalls) when only 5-1. Placed later in the season in a strong 1m2f Listed race (good) and 1m4f Group 3 here (good to firm) before a below-par run on Champions’ Day. Still to prove fully that she can compete at this level but the potential is there for sure.
Versatile tactically and on ground, STRUTH won at Chester last May on seasonal debut. Had rather a mixed record afterwards but both 1m6f attempts were creditable and he went close on AW debut in the rescheduled November Handicap when last seen. Gelded since. Cheekpieces last five starts.
Productive, consistent and versatile during a 2yo campaign that featured 6f wins in the Albany at Royal Ascot and Cheveley Park Stakes here. PORTA FORTUNA was a creditable second over 1m in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on final outing. Likely to give her running but is held by Fallen Angel on Moyglare form (finished almost 6l behind that rival).
GOOD MORNING ALEX has three wins on the AW in the winter. Career-best back on turf when winning by over 4l at Wetherby last Sunday (1m, soft). Has a 6lb penalty. The one to beat.
